Why I love Machina From the Iron Fey Series...

This is my entry for the Iron Legends contest that the AWESOME author Julie Kagawa is holding!

Why I love Machina from the Iron Fey Series

Why would I love Machina from the Iron Fey? Why would someone love any of the iron fey? To all fey, both winter and summer, iron is deadly. These new fey, the iron fey, are made from the dreams of technology in the 21st century. Naturally, all the oldbloods hate them. I mean, why would someone like something that's deadly to them? Even if they are not the most liked fey, some of their actions, specifically Machina's, changed Faeryland forever.
If Machina had not wanted Meghan as his Queen, if he hadn't kidnapped Ethan to bring Meghan into the Iron Realm, she may have never known her true heritage. If Ethan was himself on Meghan's 16th birthday, she would have unknowingly drank the mistwine. It is thanks to Machina that Meghan even knew about a part of herself that had been hidden from her for her whole life. The Iron realm would have kept growing, the population continuously rising, until the leaders of Arcadia and Tir Na Nog realized it. Meghan would have also not have met Ash, her true love.
My point is, I don't love Machina, but I love what he has done. He changed lives, in both a good and bad way, and he gave Meghan the power to save Faeryland, which I think is something that not all Iron Kings/fey would have done, and that makes Machina special.

A poem based on the Iron King (it's kinda long...)

On the day Meghan turns sixteen,
she travels to a place she never has been.
Meghan and Puck get past the changeling together,
and hurry into Faeryland, to save her little brother,

Once in Arcadia, Meghan gets the shock of her life;
she realized that her mother hadn't been her father's wife.
Here Meghan finds out she is a faery king's daughter,
and the faery queen hates her, that was a shocker.

Now that Meghan is here, and Oberon wouldn't let her go,
lest she be captured by the faery king's foe.
On the night of Elysium, Meghan makes her escape,
but not after dancing with Ash, who leaves her agape.

After entering a trod with Puck and Grim,
Puck's chances of survival might be very slim.
Tir Na Nog is home territory to Unseelie Prince Ash,
who challenges Puck to a duel, where they are an even match.

The duel is interrupted by many Iron Fey,
who proceed to take Meghan away,
She is closely followed by Ash, Grim, and Puck,
into a cave, not really to their luck.

Here the group battles the Ironhorse,
and when they leave, they realize they are way off their course.
This new development, the Iron Fey,
leaves them feeling very grey.

Between Meghan and the Winter Prince, a deal is made,
She will go to Tir Na Nog, if while rescuing Ethan, Ash comes to her aid.
Unknowing of this contract, Puck wonders why,
Meghan is nice to Ash, a person who would like to see Puck die.

In New Orleans, a memory of Meghan's does get taken,
for answers to her questions, by an oracle, who is never mistaken.
On the way, while escaping more Iron Fey,
Puck experiences what may be his last day.

By a few Dyrads, Robin Goodfellow is put to sleep,
he will awaken when ready, they tell Meghan, who begins to weep.
The Elder Dyrad gives Meghan witchwood, her own beating heart,
the Dyrad soon dies, but she has done her part.

Meghan and Ash traipse into the Iron Realm alone,
after the Cait Sith chooses to go another way, on his own.
Their witchwood arrow should kill the Iron King,
when they are done, Ethan should be fine, so will everything.

Here in the Iron Realm, is where Meghan and Ash first kiss,
Meghan feels like she is in bliss.
But the courts would never approve
Ash and Meghan would have to stop, or be removed.

The farther they go, the sicker Ash gets,
but since he's with Meghan, he has no regrets.
Soon, acid rain pours down on the pair,
they scramble for shelter, wondering what the heck is going on in the air.

Ironhorse appears again, this time to capture the pair,
but the iron has become to much for Ash to bear.
Meghan leaves him quite reluctantly,
and continues on her journey very sadly.

With an arrow of witchwood and Ash's sword in tow,
Meghan is almost there, with little left to go.
She climbs up the tower with one purpose in mind,
to get her little brother, and have him leave Faeryland behind.

Ash is there, at the top of the tower,
but it's a trap, Machina wants to give Meghan power.
Machina would like to make her his queen,
and if she refuses, he'll be very mean.

Meghan Chase still hasn't reached a decision,
when the uncorrupted hearts of trees enters her vision.
She gives them a nudge and feels them respond,
she pulls hard and roots burst from the ground.

Machina is stabbed with the arrow in his chest,
by Meghan who is happy to have ended this quest.
Home is where Meghan and Ethan finally get,
and their Mom realizes the changeling was a threat.

But this is not where Meghan's story does end,
she must go to Tir Na Nog, for how long? It will depend.
In a tale called the Iron Daughter, we will meet Meghan once more,
we shall read about all the adventures that she has in store.

Thank you soooo much for reading this!
